Polycystic Ovary Syndrone
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) – presents with a variety of complaints. These include irregular or absent menses, excess facial or body hair, ovarian cysts, hair loss to the scalp, and an elevated testosterone level. PCOS may affect 5% all women, making it a common condition. Instead of the expected monthly ovulation with a single large ovarian cyst, numerous smaller cysts may be found. Aside from issues of infertility, PCOS may be linked to a higher risk of diabetes, high cholesterol and heart disease.
